Once you've heard TBs at 8500rpm, that's reason enough
throttle bodys
easy to get the power down, 230bhp of traction(TB) or 300+bhp of Spin (turbo)

if you see the videos of andys 1.6 on tb's, that just says it all!
But large costs involved whereas trubo you can just buy the eds chip larger intercooler and yore talking pahse 3.5 320 bhp odd!!
But again traction is a major issue!
And nismo - if dads kit car is done in time for japfest next year you can hear an s2000 on throttle bodies

Hmmmm.... I'm tempted to leave my 20XE in the shed for a while longer and save up for carbs or TB's THEN fit it

200bhp of throttle bodies and 100% grip = 13.1 1/4 mile! (Thats the purple standard looking one that is doing the rounds at the minute, though they got a slip doff and drag slicks)
Mine = more power, a fook load of spin and only a 13.5! (No slip diff and wank tyres.)
Lession. Grip at least as important as power!
TB's seem a very good option!

So you can use a T28 (or was it 20?) gear box and have rear wheel drive

If you just bolt on TBs and engine management to the standard engine (should give you around 155-160bhp) and restrict your rev limit to 7500rpm, then all you really need is a set of uprated rod bolts

Would you be able to up the rev limiter a bit if you were to use stronger rod bolts on a 20XE? Or would you need to have btter conrods too? It will be running carbs or TB's...

A small increase in revs will only require uprated bolts, although I'm not a 2L expert I'm afraid. However, only worth upping rev limit if you're making the power higher up the rev range (as you would be if you switched to carbs/TBs).

ive just bought a C16XE engine to go into my car... it has mantzell power box already fitted...... would just sorting out the rod bolts and idlers be enough for a 7000-7500 RPM limit... the engine has about 90k on it..
plans for the start of next year are to fully rebuild it something like yours... but i just dont wanna feck it up in the mean time....
