First off a 106 GTI with 148 BHP would fuking rape an XE corsa.
They keep up with then in standard form at only 120 brake!
Secondly the 106 and Reliable don't go together

Oh come on Eck! You can't say that you have raced a standard 106 GTI and had no trouble shifting it.
You might have won but FFS were talkin 148 Brake here.

The 2.0s going to have a lot more torque though, and theres no replacement for displacement.

Strange that..that's what they have as standard
How can you not get more torque with a 28bhp increase?

TBH mate and i'm not buulshitting you i've race 2 standard 1's that I had no trouble in getting away from and one highly modded one ( totally stripped out AK - JR style ) with a highly tuned engine and fair enough he kept on my bumper right up to 130mph but he couldnt pass me.
I'm not one to bullshit mate i'm just telling you the way it was

It was the blue one from skiddz (stripped 106) just incase anyone from my area was wondering who

106 in standard form will match an XE corsa to 60ish without doubt, at higher speeds the additional capacity and torque of the XE will win out.
Most 1/4 mile time Ive seen for the standard 106's are similar to that of a standard 2.0 corsa.

IMO the majority of XE's would beat the GTi up the 1/4 mile.....

Maybe so, depending on driver too Just an observation that the times seem to be similar, around the mid 15's.
Steve and sooty off here both got low 15's in their 106's with only exhaust and filter IIRC, from what i've read thats around the general 2.0 time.

My best 1/4 mile is 15.434, the previous owner did 15.034

From what I have read, low to mid 15's generally.
