i guess cos chucking say £2000 away to insure a 2.0l 16v can be better spent making a car look nice...?

you can get small ceramic heaters for £20 if you want to ditch the matrix.

i've got one here.
tilt/swivel base, heat or cool fan.

yesh, the strut brace is, well thin! it would just bend or snap.

BTW the plumbed in fire extinguishr is non operational at the moment, as i need a new extinguisher (out of date) one of the tutors at college is sourcing me one for cheeeeep

one of the guys at my work is an Analysis Engineer and he says that if you can't hang the car from the rear strut then it aint strong enough. in a crash your body weight and momentum is multiplide......blah blah techincal bolloxs....but apparently tis true.....

Today i was bored, again, i went to my dad's mate's house (i was gonna use his garage, engine crane and lift to put my engine in) but he wasn't there. he has been ill for the last few months, so i didnt want to bother him.
anyways i was sat inside looking at my car in the drive, and at 4pm decidied to take the battery out, disconnect all the wires, cables, pipes and fuel lines. as i was doing this, my dad came outside to see what i was doin, he said i should just drop the engine out, so i did. finished it at 7pm not bad for 3 hours work.

tomorrow morning i'm getting an engine crane and sticking the 1400 16V in.
i was amazed at how easy it was to take the old engine out, by using a jack to lower it.

also it was raning and very windy. i am proud!

just gettin some pics of the car as it is now.

If you have the harnesses going down at an angle more than 45 degrees then it is like to cause major injuries in an accident. Better to have them going straight back at 90 degrees from the seat although obviously not on the strut brace as it isnt strong enough, see alot of people fitting a cage and putting an extra bar in to mount the belts to

alo i put the engine in today so i have a couple of little things that need doing. (need a pipe from thermo stat to rad, pipe for the vacume for the brakes, connect gearbox linkage, and wire it up )



the i need to get a pipe from the manifold to the back box (no cat), MOT'd, Tax, and insired then sprayed

whats the gen on the grp tailgate?
what does it come with? how does it fix at the top? can you get locking bonnet pins?

i dunno if you can get locking bonnet pins, but i have modified the old boot lock and old solanoid (thats for remote central locking) so that the boot locks. but still has bonnet pins. there are captive nuts in the boot so you can chop the hinges off a standard talegate and rill holes in them, so then can be bolted in. if you get what i meeeeen?

i took the window out of a standard talegate (usung a stanley knife to chop off the bonding) i then used tigerseal to bond the window into the GRP one.

they are £170-ish from pro-tec, and have a huge difference in weight!
