Lay off the dope for a day then go out and hold on to the suspension componants, when you get the shakes you will be able to tell whats knackered by trying to detect movment in the parts, easy

Have you looked at the intermediate shaft? Could be wear in that as there are bearings in it, think this is where my problem lies, around 10-12mm of steering wheel movement until it actually begins to move the wheels........pretty easy to check as well!

so can we have a list of the checks needed, in the order to be done, and what could possibly have to be replaced at each check?

when i had the problem with mine i took it to vaux... they know what there there doing right?
i was told and i quote "that engine is to big for that car" "that suspension is not the corrects one for your car... it must have a vauxhaul suspension fitted" " them wheels are WAY to big for the car" " we dont know whats wrong" and they charaged me 50 quid to tell me this to!
had to figure it out myself... lucky when i was doing my conversion i had changed the trackrod ends.....balljoints and polybushes alround so the only things left really were the top mounts or the wheel barings....

i have put up with it, but it feels dangerous now, and not gonna get a conversion if it drives like it is
Update: turned wheel full lock and got out, grabbed what i think is the driveshaft and can pull it in and out a little bit, its knocks when i do this? is it normal?

Get rid of it and buy a Vectra - I found a massive difference in the feel of the road and handling when i bought my V6 SRI.. Even my new 1.8 SXI is good...
