you have to remember that the engine is gonna be 10-15 yeasr old... so combine that with a heavy right foot... (and lets face it your not putting a 2.0 in a corsa to go sunday driving) this why the thing breaks...

in an ideal world the engine should be fully rebuild before its put into its new home... but for many factors the main one being money this doesnt always get done therefore it breaks....

i done a 1.6 conversion into my corsa and i would dream of leaving the house without a bag of tools and a jack.... funny thing is... the engine has been fine its everything around it has gone to pot since the conversion....

wouldnt change it for the world though ... well maybe a skyline or something

Just make sure the oil/coolant etc is changed regularly and things like the waterpump/cambelt/rollers/thermostat have been done recently, if you have no proof get them done.

Before i bought my corsa i had no idea at all about the valver engine, have learnt along the way about the engine, and instead of paying someone to do something that you can do yourself (and learn a lot more about the workings of the engine) might take longer but further down the line if something plays up you can sort it yourself.

I knew little.

Since having it i now know alot more
But thats a good thing, as mist says do it yourself you will learn, but i was no where near that competent.
Also from my knolledge basically most of the problems are easy to fix (i fixed mine myself) and i really dont know muc hat all just ask shinee/lee mitchell

Yes I think you would need to, for the simple reason that I can tell if I'm getting big end wearing, or piston slap just buy resting a spanner on the block front, little things like that, If my car's not fueling right I know the necessary 'tricks' to diagnose it without getting a diagnostics check.
You can't beat knowledge and litening to people in the know, I've not had many problems with my astra XE or the corsa LET's, because I knew what potential problems were, before they even occured if you get me.
It's ok paying people to insert the engine and service it, then what do you learn?
