Nice to see where our money is going. Giving coppers the chance to drive this high performance cars at fast speeds and get away with it. Lets face it on a coppers salary most of them couldnt afford a new impreza.
Just dont get why they need a 4wd rally derived saloon to do policing???

If the tax payer is paying for the police, when the police men and women pay there taxes they are in effect paying there own wages

My mate has a Sport pack IS200 18s etc. so I'd say they could. His daily drive is a 4x4 3 litre X-type. Marked of course.
For the record for anyone saying it costs a lot - they don't pay book prices you know....
Also doesn't matter what car its in, the tracking/video/radio gear costs a few k. May as well put it in something worth using. No point videoing a car which is leaving you behind!

AND getting payed for it

Yeah he regularly does, they also have a few 330 Beemers which he sometimes uses.
Its not all driving flash cars though, he's got as many stories about chasing people over walls and writing statements after less interesting crime.

I was gonna say what Ian did....
We were discussing the Police cars at work, they deffo get them VERY cheap. When they are re-sold after, I'd imagaine they about break even. And car companies are very keen for Traffic Police to use their models.
We have one 530d BMW, which I'd be amazed if it wasn't given for free (as we only have one). The public are not gonna think the Police use unreliable and shit cars are they? Great advertising!
And Police wages are stupid considering the work they do. Overtime is mad also. 8 years good work and you will be an inspector if your promotion minded. That IS good money

Police round here start on 18k, then 21k after 2 years probation. To me thats not a great wage.

i know a few coppers and they dont pay that much compared to book price for them as far as im aware!
As the manufacturers give them the ones they regect, as in not sell worthy, somethings not quite right cuz obviously they get cut about abit with reinforcement and they get tweaked aswell so what evers wrong usually gets fixed or if its panels or something it dont matter to them!
Thats what i was told by a copper if its true or not i dont know!
