20k on the original oil? I bet it comes out in a sludge lol You should change the oil every 6k, even more so on a new engine when everything is getting worn in
most new cars only need servicing every 20000 miles or 2 years now. the quality of oil is much higher and alot thinner too ( 0w30 at our place)
all new vws (an probably vauxhalls) are set to this service regime and the ecu will moniter oil quality. when it gets crap it pings up 'service'

no most new cars are on longlife servicing which ive seen go up to 24k of a VW, its uses a higher grade of oil which is no problems for thoses distance, when it become shite quality it tells you
