why only the 0.25mm rebore too? Thats a bit shy isnt it?
Why not whap in the QED bottom end if your going the whole hog... bore it out to 2.4
crank - just whap SBD £1600 steel badboy in there (they offered one to me for 1200 )
cams - if your making the comitment to move to a solid head why stay sub 300? go for 310 and aprox a 9k rpm limit, fully ace
Injectors? You going to try that setup SBD use for the 290 kit? 8 injectors?

just to clarify.
lee done everything i asked him to do, he didn't fit the powersteering as he didn't get the bracket intime.
i have fitted the bracket and the pump but i dont think the pump is the right match for the steering rack.

i should read the whole post before replying lol
beardy - the gearbox works but just didn't feel right to me. didnt feel very solid when putting it into gear.
i don't know if all the 2ltr conversions feel like that just didn't seem right to me, i think its the gear linkage more than anything.

First job is to get that interior stripped out and sold, that will pay for a new manifold and some carbon buckets!
Them throttle bodies look quite "long" especially with the trumpets attached. Are you gonna cut the bulkhead? On my old corsa the Weber 45's just fitted but we couldnt use trumpets and had to use individual filter socks. That was with the bulhead intact!

got to agree with ak though.
Why not find another engine to rebuild and then sell that one on. Would be a waste to chuck away those 0 miles pistons, bearings etc.

If it were me id be putting the V6 in the Blue one, and sorting the Black one out with the full on works engine treatment as the wider track would mean you could have more fun with the power . I see the blue one as more as a show car, so the V6 would suit it better.
Dunno, might just be me. Either way its gonna be mental when its done .

But what SBD won't tell you is that at this high-revving spec, you need to rebuild the engine every 1200 miles - as I found out to my cost

They recommend new springs, but to check all the other valve running gear too. They also suggested new rings. Thing is, building an engine with with solid lifters is more labour intensive...
I'm using Swindon Racing valve train kit on my rebuild and keeping revs to below 8500rpm for (hopefully) improved durability

With solid lifters. all the shims have to be matched to each valve assembly and machined within 8 thou. Tis a time-consuming and tricky process so I believe... Not like hydraulics, which automatically adjust and take up any slack

They don't really have a retail operation, but they can sell you bits if you have a specific requirement.
Car is still in bits Stu, but everything now in place for rebuild
