i've just joined, had my first session on tuesday, felt pretty good when i got out.
Did a bit of everything really. Main thing i want to do is build muscle but would also like to increase stamina.
they worked me out a program but it's shoot i think, 12minutes on the bike 12 minutes on the x-trainer and 12 on the treadmill.
I want to use the weights but not sure how much or how many to be doing! lift about 60lb and can do about 15 before arms start to get knackered if thats any help.

I find kickboxing, bag work and sparring best for cardio.. then wieghts to bulk uo and put power into the punches but it exersizes most of the body just doing that... jogging is good for learning how to pace your self...All you need is a pair of gloves a bag and wieghts... helps having a trainer and sparring partner etc.. Also gives you confidence and makes you quite handy about the streets i have found.. i would recommed it to anybody

if you wanna bulk up get some protein shakes 1 before training 1 after then 1 2-3 hours after that, i train 4 days a week just got back into it, rest is equally important aswel as good meals.
put this site in your favourites shows you what excercise do what muscle and shows you examples http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

and dont go in gym doing biggest weights work your way up slowly youll benefit more doing weights with proper reps
if you have a ego leave it at the door because you wont in need it in the gym theres this lad who goes in there with clothes to go out on a night out jean and stuff i dont see how you can train properly

bwbw: If you want to build your arms up, work on your triceps as they are 2/3 of your arm mass. I wouldnt recommend just working on arms because it will look disproportioned.
the best way bulk up is to increase carb, protein and calorie intake. I used to be on a ratio of 390g carbs/220g protein/3400cals. Put weight on quickly!

I used to go to the gym 3-4 times a week and after 2-3 months I was realli toned and weighed 13 stone, had solid stomach etc then I became severly depressed and wasnt eating properly had no motivation for the gym and wasnt sleeping and as a concequence I now weigh 10 stone again and have lost the majourity of my muscle realli wanna get back into it but I am still injured from RTA and my back makes any excercise very difficult and painful
As has been said above train on alternate days and alternate types of excercise as well cardio then muscle, also diet is very improtant, it took me about 2 months of doing this before I realised.

Smiffie, this is similar to what i do.
How long does it take you to run your mile? Do you do this at the beginning of the workout to limber up or at the end?

I do that when i jog - 1 mile ...but I do the cardio and weights on a different day.. takes me about 8 mins to jog a mile thats at a slow rate though... could probably do it faster if i ran but i like to not be knackered afterwards...

is it best to do cardio on different days then?
Ie. bikes/treadmills/x-trainer one day then weights/lifts the next?

I've just started running again.
Run about 2 miles to the beach and back a day.
Night time do stomach crunches and lift weights
Prob doesnt do a great deal
Basically started as I've got a bit of a belly appearing, whats best to get rid of it?
Kicked chocolate/crisps/beer so far

Going everyday is not a clever idea. You only grow when your resting. You must give your msucles time to recouperate and repair themselfs. If you bash em out everyday they will just be permantly worn out and you will hinder any gains that you may make.
