Ditch made a good point, you can fix the car yourself and parts and servicing you can do for pennies rather than hundreds.

Worst case scenario with the Astra and same applys to my Nova is that if the engine goes, you get another one for £300 and fit it yourself.

Easy. Older cars are'nt money pits like new cars if you have the knowledge and the contacts.

If you don't get the Astra get this, bloke is in Reading and I have never seen this about. I always wanted a white standard SR and if I had'nt got my cage I would have got this.

Right. I've got a 1990 Nova 1.4SR for sale.

Details:
Just under 75k in the clock,
MOT till mid December 2005
Thatcham Cat 1 Alarm and immob (Autowatch 160RLi)
Pretty much a FSH.
Oil changed every 3k or 6 months along with a general service

Owned it for the last 4 years and its never broken down once. I know most people probably say this, but it really hasnt been thrashed either.

Runs perfectly. Starts first time and doesnt burn any oil or anything. Went straight through the MOT (apart from a wonky washer jet and damp headlamp which was replaced)

I will also include some GTE Brake calipers and discs which i was going to fit, but never got rounmd to it.

There is a little bit of rust around the rear arches, but by no means as bad as some i've seen. This would be the perfect base if you wanna mod it up.

It's got not Tax at the mo, but MOT till December. and its been parked up since it got MOT'd (apart from run weekly)

£400

It's in Reading. Come and get it! cheap as chips!

@Ditch, its in Chicester i think, will double check tho

@ojc so tempted, for £400 you can't moan, suspension cost that much

i would like to spend money on corsa tho, its just when i drive it that i hate it. steering and handling is tres bad

i need someone like Lee M to have a check over it, local garages have no interest and just say "steering is worn"

thats what cars are for tho

it does have a hard life, but i have spent quite a bit putting things right.

i just think "whats the worst that could happen to it"

once the steering is better and the clutch and the engine and brakes it'll be a nice little car again

if i buy GTE i could drive it around for a bit, have corsa off the road to sort out, and then maybe swap the engines

or just keep GTE, (bit dated looking)

i have tough choices to make, i don't think i want a car that i gonna have to care about too much.

don't take cars to shows, or pose in it, just drive it when i need to get somewhere or just go out and pretend i colin mcrae in a 2CV
