no, i think your right actually - looks like the charger and turbos is all plummed into the same outlet pipe, through the intercooler and into engine

that's what I thought, SC seems to be grafted onto the turbo pipe with a T piece... must be a better way of doin that surely?

that pipe going the the IC is the outlet from the turbos not the inlet.

the inlet to the turbos are the little fans you can see on them.

i cant see were th inlet is on the super charger.

are you sure thats not a twin turbo engine, i know fuck all but all ways though the supercharger was only connected to the throttle body and only has one internal turbine )and so wouldnt have exhaust gases anywhere near it)

yeah its a normal skyline twin turbo engine with a supercharger added....

to be honest i dunno if that suppercharger would be that affective. i think the turbos would be supplying far more charge that it could

exhaust gases dont drive the supercharger

could do with some pictures really to work out whats going on, i take it that one of the turbos is smaller than the other so has less power but less lag, why would you need a supercharger in addition surely thats just going to have minimal effect?

To compound charge, you need to

Have a clutch on the s/c so you can turn it on and off.
And a Butterfly valve or similar to switch which way charge is going.

So when the S/c is on it blocks the feed from the turbos to the where the s/c joints. and vica veras when the s/c is off.

A RS500 has this system, it's up the emerald site. Very clever stuff.

But if you use a good GTseries turbo in the first palce you can get away with little lag.

So you can't run both together? Surely you must be able to...

well the Lancia Delta charger shut off after something like 4.5k and then the turbo kicked in to the limit - but it all depends how its fitted together etc etc

If you think about it, if you were at full chat, with both the turbo and SC at full pelt, then let off, the inlet throttle slams shut, the pressure builds up between the turbo/SC and throttle, and the turbo's stall (hence why you fit a DV usually). Only now, the SC will still be spinning at the same rate as the engine. It could theoretically start to force air back through the turbos, and out the inlets of the turbos, forcing the exhaust side of the turbo to turn backwards, and most likely stall the engine .

i believe there are DVs (or something similar) on chargers as well - otherwise it would be trying to force air into the engine when off the throttle

eitherway, this startting to get out of my league

the charger is not feeding the turbos it is blowing directly into the pipe going into the IC.

You can't run them together because

1) the s/c can't supply the amoutn of air going in to the engine to keep up with the turbo's causeing boost to go out the s/c
2)The S/c is paracitic and take power off the crnak, why would you leabve it runngin longer than you had to?
3) superchagrers don't need DV's because you throttle off and the engine slows and the boost goes down cause the s/c slows down too.
4)The S/C woul dbe geared to produce its max CFM rate at what ever it's meant ot swap for the turbo at, as it's geared driectly off the crank you can flog it to death by 4k then turn it off, else it will dye.
