so i still go on day release to tech , i have a "student" card.
can i use it?
also if my bird decides to move down in with me , yet doesnt pay for the morgage and only helps with food n stuff , is there anyway she can shaft me and get part of the house? or could i just say she were a "lodger" ???

If your burd moves in you dont get single person tax relief - 25% discount on council tax!! + yes I think she can shaft you if you have lived together for a set time...even if its in your name etc!!

I could not say for part time as I only know full time students who dont pay council tax...but I suppose if your classed as a student..i.e having a student ID card or NUS then yes you are exempt...
Im sure one of the lads mentioned he had to prove his place on the course to the council to be exempt...think he took a letter of acceptance...cant remember tho...

This is true...she can lay claim to half the property if it can be proved she made any contribution to the deposit...the day to day running of the home...whether it be chipping in for mortgage or even buying the monthly food to free you up to pay the mortgage...

you will not get away with it if you are part time colin
however you will get a discount for being single person, also if its empty when you are doing it up you are entitled to some relief too

all lawyers/agents fees can be put on the mortgage..best way for 1st timers..
surveys i got done were about £80

You don't need life insurance, I don't have any but then if I die the flat would be empty anyway so can be sold. Probably wise if I had a dependents in there but as I don't, I opted not to have it.
They also offered me critical illness cover if I'm unable to work, which I declined, and redundancy cover which I also don't want.
To give you an idea of fees since signing for this flat I've spent
£500 to put my name down on the plot.
£200 search fee paid to soliciter
£445 acceptance fee on the mortgage
£275 survey
There will also be more soliciters fees for the time signing and money transfers etc. and never mind I've not bought anything, its not even built until July.
Got my stamp duty to look forward to - a mere £1510
