Also, it is pretty laughable for anyone with a standard 1.8 16v to be even considering a LSD.

Pete, i dont think you will really benefit the £500 for a diff,
I suggest you get a better rear shock setup, anti roll bar on the back will be worse, you need stiffer front springs like i have,
strut braces and good tyres, also get the toe in, castor, camber, slip angles set up correctly, made a world of difference on mine!

i was just thinking the same - 125 brake to front wheels, its not exactly a speed demon is it
personally i would save the 500 quid+ for a new haircut and monkey suit

i wouldent just go out a buy a Diff if i was you, i would look at other options like people say.
practice starts aswell, as even my 185bhp shed on carbs is on 14" remold tyres and i dont get much wheel spin at all on take off, just knowing about how much power to put down.......

Pete with them tyres and 17's, i find it hard that you cant get the traction, and the power down!
Possibly you dont let the clutch out till the revs are at 6k who knows??

So, anyone that's commented driven a car with a Quaife ATB?
Makes a big difference, where a normal fwd vauxhall will understeer on hard tight cornering, often lifting a wheel and spinning the power away, with a Quaife ATB or any other LSD fitted then you feel the car been dragged round getting the power down much earlier.
Corsa SRi 1.8 has short gearing so it is a bit of a technique to get the power down in 1st and 2nd.

yes, in a vauxhall with quite a bit of power and and that doesnt have 17's
a 1.8 sri with 17's and a kit does not need a LSD.
whats the point, its just another thing that could brake when it wount make a great deal of difference to petes car.
if he does whats been detailed above, and the still thinks he needs one then fine, but theres no point fitting one at this stage

If it has traction control as standard something is seriously wrong Peter.
You must be pulling away at 6k

Chris yes i have driven a FFwd car with a quiffe diff.
A good driver should be able to cope without a diff, if it has traction control then there is a problem!

i agree, that a good driver should be able to handle the power of a standard vauxhall 1.8.
but they do change a cars handling for the better when fitted
i'd get one

I want a diff for my car and I bet it's not even knocking 140BHP.
If you are acutally managing to lift the inside wheel then there's something defo not right with the sus on the car. An ATB wouldnt be handy if you acutally were, cause they need the other wheel to b on the ground to act as a torque retainer (or similar can't think of the name)
A better optin woul be a 40% plate diff, but in the end do you really need a 500 diff plus 300 fitting??

an LSD will make the handling worse i think (at least in the car park)
