Tories wanted to raise Motorway limits, remove speed cameras used for revenue and reduce the amount of paperwork the Police needed to to, so they could be out policing serious crimes.

yeh I think it should at least be a 80mph limit on motorways - and earlier when I said about never going above 85 mph that's on clocks - my road angel shows about 80 mph at 85 on clocks.

I love corsasport.

Everyone on here has never broken the speed limit, never drank a point over the limit, never spun their wheels in error or deliberately.

I hope you get off lightly paul, by what it sounds like you were in the wrong, but you were entrapped into making things worse.

I say the copper is yet another example of the lack of decent honest and law obiding officers in the force. Its such a shame, its not like you havent admeitted your error, just trying to penalise u further for no reason.

Makes me very very angry

Does anyone know how much a 28 day ban will affect the insurance?

And will I get a 28 day ban plus 6 points? or do I get a ban and a clean license back?

Are all bans the same insurance wise (a ban's a ban) - or say a 28 day ban will raise insurance less than a 6 month / year ban / ban for dangerous / drink driving.

I have TT code which is'nt a serious offence and can be worked around.

Anything with D in it means your are fcuked big time.

Paul your ban will cost you about £100 in insurance, I seriously would'nt get your knickers in a twist about it.

Not sure what code you will get though, you might possibly get a dangerous driving one (DD) for doing 103mph

My insurance premium reduced from £1600 on the GT down to £800 for the Nova with all mods declared and ban.

I wasn't doing 103 though

and the road conditions were in my favour...

I personally definately think I'll have to pay more than £100 extra. I'm 20, 2 yrs NCB and pay £950 tpft at the moment! next year I'll be 21, 3 yrs NCB... (plus pass plus)

I guess maybe the increase and the decrease from extra NCB and age might cancel each other out and I'll pay the same again. I doubt it though - SL2 is a really rubbish post code.

If they were going to try and get a DD thrown into the equation, wouldn't it have to state that offence on the summons letter?

As far as i know, a 28 day ban for speeding will just go on your license as an SP30 with 28 day ban stated rather than 3 points..

I think you'll pay about £1000 for your insurance next year if you get a 28 day ban.

If you get 6 points i'd guess at £800

Being a student bum you should get away with a very light fine at court aswell. About £150 max.

So if I get a ban I get ban and points?

or if I get a ban it's just shown as a ban and no points - so what would happen if I got 3 points within the 3 years or whatever.

Either a ban OR points as far as i'm aware - you won't get both. But at the same time, any ban less than 3 months in duration will see any previous points remain on your license for 4 years or however long it is.

A ban will also remain on your license for 4 years or however long it is, but will not have any relevance in terms of totting up 12 points and receiving a mandatory 6 month ban.

Having 3 points already myself, i want (and think i'm pretty much guaranteed) to receive a ban rather than points (providing it's a short ban) as 6 more points would take me to 9 and within 3 of a 6 month ban.

I think theres a very strong possibility that you'll get the 6 points though..

saveyourdrivinglicence.pdf

Got a copy here but it's very basic. Nothing that you could rely on in court. If your going to plan a defence, you need to do some serious research of case law..
