I would have one if I had the spare cash it looks ok as long as it's nothing to obscure where number and latters are being joined together etc, another valid point is that it's an investment

It's £228.34 an ounce. Gold is a world market, whereas numberplates are only worth as much as someone is willing to buy at that time, mainly through auctions - so not only do you need to find a buyer you also need to find a buyer with money.

Again, you are going miles off the point, an investment is not something that will guarantee a profit at the end, gold may not rise or fall in value very much in years, same as a number plate might not so you comparrison means fuck all
Oh and sorry what's your point about having to find someone who wants to buy it (and with money ) do you think you'd re-sell such a small amount of gold back for even the amount you paid for it swings and roundabout clever ass.
