16 psi on stock cooling.
The temprature gauge doesnt realte to the intake charge which is where the problem would be!!!!
Bye bye piston!
Sorry not sounding harsh but if if i was running 16psi contant on my Cav Turbo i would give it oooohhh about a week before it went pop.

From where your boost pipes are it looks like you're on a standard cooler or a one of the small pace ones. Neither is good for 16psi. 10 psi is an absolute maximum if you're on the standard cooler.
Seriously get that done first, especially in this heat. Spend a few hundred now or its £1200 to have a standard bottom end rebuild on these.

Was looking for an RST for ages mate. More swayed towards S1's but by the time you've restored one your into cossie money
Looking to getting a an RST quite soon as a toy wouldnt buy one for that cheap though Hop you checked all the boot floor, in the sunroof cavity and inner arches for rust. Roofs tend to the worse place for rust
Looks like you got a good buy and best colour too
