Anyone know anything about this? Is it lighter than a regular bonnet? Is it legal?

No its "glass reinforced polymer" - and it should be more than strong enough; Ive built fibreglass undercored bonnets with a single skin carbon top layer and theyve been fine and heat resistant

I've called pro-tec and have asked about the group buy.

they said 5 or above and that i have to call them back at 3 to see what percentage we can get off the bonnet.

I got a load of samples from carb supplies I think there called.

The best looking stuff for a bonnet is blue kevlar and carbon, looks really good, but I found the cheaper expoxy resins where not clear enough.

Have you used braid, I am doing a strut brace for a mate on the weekend.

If it works out okay I will try the middle section of a civic exhaust.

What did you do with bonnet, make a full moulding or just a top skin?

You can bring them everywhere! Easiest way is to mount them on your car instead of the original bonet!

I'll phone them tomorrow and get prices.

So do you transplant the glass to the new GRP tailgate or does it come with it? Or am i missing something?

yeah, you swap the glass over, and the lock and the hinges afaik. not sure if the wiper hole is there or not. i suspect it's not and that would be fine for me.

full moulding over standard spider

and done just plain carbon bonnets - quite a few methods - the easiest was using the o/e spider though

not sure why alot of folk with 'kitted' cars etc are interested...... it'll look the same as standard, only lighter...... Why spend money making your car lighter, only to add more speakers and more kit

i'm confused.

taxi!
