Going away to uni so for word processing and stuff but want at least 512 ram so I can use some other stuff maybe photoshop but not very often and some light gaming to pass the time.
Also trying to find out about the Hotspots that you get with wifi. Can you always use thses if you have wifi or do you need an intel centrino processor as whenever it mentions wifi in adverts it only seems to say hotspot compatibility if a centrnio processor is included?
Enlightenment please?

Most students download shit loads of movies so you need a huge HD. 60GB in a lappy aint bad though. I know Sony use 100GB SATA drives in the top end systems.

Try and take out the extra warranty if you can because as a student you will realise you end up spending 16 hours a day on you computer or in my case 22 hours a day – lol.

Acer stuff is not bad at all. I've had a BenQ LCD monitor for about 3 years and it still works like new.

Basically my minimum that I'm looking for is 512RAM, 40GB HD (at least), DVD dual layer drive, 15 + display (as it's more desktop replacement than battery usage, as it's a bit hard to take a tower pc to and from uni and stuff), Some stand alone graphics card like ATI or Nvidea Also trying to get a firewire for my iPod(i know you can get a usb cable) and also for connecting digital camcorder

I know i find you get more for your money as with others you are paying for the brand of the laptop eg Samsung and therefore getting less in terms of better ram etc for your budget.
Also it'd nice to get a card reader built in as my digicam gets through loads of batterys but not essential as an external one can be picked up for £10ish

Infact just found this laptop and it looks like you get a lot for your money there and only £30odd over my £600 budget
