you seen the cometic steel gaskets? well they have 8 holes that appear to be randomly just there around the bores, apparently if you have the blocked drilled and the head (i think also) where these holes are you hit the water jacket allowing more coolant to be circulated round the block.. never seen it done, only heard about it

what pistons you using?
and compersion ratio?
as i am running low comp pistons and was told only to run a 1.3mm gasket, as only use the 1.9mm one only if you have to?
matt will post that on MIG......

the head ive got was off an xe so i went for the 1.9mil as it had been skimmed.
ive got je low compression forged 87mil things. unsure of what compression it will run. just hope it runs really.
its built to take a phase 4 kinda 360bhp although hopefully in next few months will have tb's aswell so i tried to build it to take a bit more. just hope it does.

What would it take re-build and uprated wise to run Phase 3.5 i.e 320+bhp obviously not all the time, switchable i mean.
But what to do to make it safe.

ive gone steel rods, forged low comp pistons, oil spray bars in bottom end to make it safe enough for phase 4 that it will be running.

ill be running phase 3.5 soon enough, my mate has a saloon nova and is running phase3, deffo need uprated acturator to hold the boost, uprated fuel bumper he recomended to me and also bigger injectors with less fuel pressure to take strain off the fuel injection system. As for rebuild guess it depends on the engine really. Also been recomended NGK iridium plugs which are apparently a few grades colder than the ones regal etc supply.

oh, pretty much apart from bottom end being able to take it has to have a good intercooler and pretty much most importantly if running more boost the injectors and fuel pump really kinda wanna be changed.
i had phase 3 running on a cav turbo for about 9 months. fast as hell and reliable up until one of the injectors decided it had had enough and stopped working at fully duty cycle and killed the block.
im still looking into what pump to use but there is a bloke on mig sells a in tank fitment pump for a corsa made by walbro with all fixing needed and its rated over 400bhp so reckon i shall fair order one of them next week. about 150 quid as well. bargain
