I reckon your impreza would kill a standard one to 60 stu.. after that they seem to go an go after 60 as top speed is 170+mph .. 330BHP and only 1650kg so dont weigh that much really considering a its 5.7V8 a Veccy is 1450...

couldnt afford it anymore lol. the running costs anyway, could afford the car...so sold it, bought the sri, spent far too much on it, and can afford to insure and run it comfortably.

Not so sure bout the astra winning mayb if u hav a long straight but the type R wud giv it a gud go, my gf had a 53 reg type R, & i beat a vx220 turbo on the A1. the astra probs wud win in the end tho coz of the extra power and turbo but the type R wudnt b tht far bhind as in the newer ones the v-tec kicks in twice, once at 3 or 4k revs n then agen at 6k-ish, so it means its got a gud all round acceleration and top end, we clocked over 145mph on the way 2 pick up her nu evo 8 FQ300 hurricane, but the evo has SOOOO much more power (obviously) iv only had 155mph out of it so far. i just keep runnin outta road round here or petrol which eva comes 1st.I wud defo buy a type R tho, theyr awesome cars 4 the money,as ther has never been a v tec engine blown up, the seats r pretty classy & the gear stick is in a really gud place, lux funny like. They handle really badly round corners & in th wet tho!

CTR is faster than the astra on the straight and curves. the astra slows down after 60mph. not much in it but significant at 100mph. driver has a lot to do with it

Well I raced several and beat them all, also had a Focus RS level down the A420 before we both backed off, was fun that
As Martin has said, he beat a few CTR's... in a straight line they are similarly effective but the CTR SHOULD always win as it can rev much higher and provided ur not racing up to 120mph+ the CTR should have it :S
As for track, I would guess the CTR as IMO it is more track focused than an Astra

They dont weigh as much as I would have thought? Thats actually pretty light for such a huge car!!!! Im currently 321bhp and 1235kgs but its a very different car to the Impreza, bet its dead reliable and runs out of petrol before it runs out of grunt! Would like to go for a spin in one actually!
How do the new Astra turbo engines compare to the old lets? Are there many differences?

Yeah, this is the thing he takes it out blasts about and turns straight off.. no turbo to cool down etc.. the engines are bullet proof... And he is averaging 20MPG around town with a bit of cruising and bit of playing.. The power is always there and even if you catch it in the wrong gear it will pull from where ever it is.. he drives round in 6th at 1,000rpm and it pulls from there strong - it really wierd..
Where abouts in Manc are you Stu i'll ask him to take you for a spin if you like?

Morning matey!!!
Thats the thing about high capacity, I bet its so unstressed!!! That thing of mine takes some serious looking after!!! The other thing is that I have turbo lag to deal with, my car wont start pulling in fifth til about 100mph!
Im in Denton? Not far from you in Stockport!
