u can try cleaning it. worked for me but not for rob b. take it off the car and spray short bursts of carb cleaner onto the sensor inside. allow to dry naturally and then replace. start her up and drive it, see if its changed.

you see the two clips being pointed at by yellow arrows?

get a flat headed screw driver in the join at the back of them as shown on the right one just above ure arrow head and lightly prise it up as if to leaver it off - the clip will then ping open

do the same on the other and then slowly seperate the tubing being careful not to dame the wiring on ure AFM from bending it to much .etc

you should then see a gauze inside which doesnt need to be removed but can if u want, behind it you'll see a sensor hanging down which i think according to voyto (and i've done it myself) can be given a few short blasts of Carb Cleaner...

just let it dry naturally and once it has re attach it back onto the tubing and reclip the metal things with pliers... use one head over the ridge on one side then another in the whole on another and they'll take some force to pinch them back in together but it can be done

well i did it and im yet to see a difference, how long do you think "drying naturally" is as it seemed to dry instantly!

i have ordered a new part and i will fit it to see if it fixes it. if not im out of ideas, have you got anymore?

thank you all for your help but this is really pi***ng me off now and i am thinking about getting rid!

My 1.2 was coughing and spluttering, hesitating to rev thru, then it would, then it wouldn't, used to leave me looking like a kangaroo at the traffic lights!

A new Air Mass Meter sorted my problem out, then i had to replace the idle valve thing a few weeks later, 2 common problems with these engines as the elecy parts are built like kids toys!

A new Air Mass Meter cost me 140quid, idle valve 45quid.
