I moved out @ 16 and lived pretty much alone till i was 18.
But i lived in a brand new 3 storey town house, and the bottom floor was basically mine, i had large room and a shower room...
But was paying £320 a month ... which is more than my mortgage would be on 50k

I say you have two options, either sit tight at home with Richie and save up as much as you can until your in a better financial situation (with your new job and that)
or
Struggle and try to get by with a house, but remember rome wasn't built in a day so keep looking on properties until the right one comes along...

why are you worrying about £320 p/m Ally? From the figure you gave me earlier I wouldn't be worried about the bigger mortgage at all
My mortgage is around 75% of my take home pay

I like the way you think, independent woman and all that!
Guess you could move back in home with your parents. Save a bit more money and then try again?

Haven't read all the posts but have you thought about shared ownership!? can probably get a much better place and just basically buy your house bit by bit!
might be worth looking into as this is what i'm hopefully doing!
