Well there statements i'm sure will differ to each others whereas the 4 of you in the car will have exactly the same.
Old people are bawbags, only just this morning one pulled out on me as I was going to get road tax for the GSi.

dna - not sure if there is cctv, i'll go have a look later.
i dont think the old people evan realised what had happend, they must have been sat on the drive, looked directly behind them, then just pulled out. which isnt a wise move onto a main road into town

RR old people, prepare for a long long time sorting this
in 2002 when i crashed the silver corsa,
wet roads diesel all over this corner, i was doing 25 mph upto it, braked, nothing happened, steered, had the handbrake up everything, just sliding on the diesel.
I slid across the road into a car coming the other way who was also locked up going sideways.
But because all 4 wheels of my car where on his side of the road as a left hander i got lumbered with the blame on a 50/50 crash
But as he was some 64 year old bloke - retired the year after thought he would take me to court over it so sort himself out for a few years!
I had 6 witnesses saying he was jacking his car up, my dad asked him if he needed help he said no, he carried heavy tools into house as dad gave him lift home.
And he tried to sue me for 10k worth of damages, i was at the hospital that night and he didnt arive!!
Its still unsettled now as i refuse to give in to his solicitors!
Best thing - the council sent me a £1500 bill for clearing the road of dieel! Funny my cars petrol hey!
So be prepared for this to take a while, hope it sorts soon for you though

It is not illegal to reverse into a main road but it is not advisable. This is for safety reasons. The main road is likely to be very busy and there will be an increased chance of a collision due to the presence of more cars on the road. If an accident occurred due to you reversing onto a main road from a minor road then there may be the possibility of you being prosecuted for driving without due care and attention.

177: Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can.
179: You MUST NOT reverse your vehicle further than necessary.
179, does that also mean, it was not necessary for him to reverse into my car so he shouldnt have done it?
doesnt really say anything about not reversing off a drive, just try to avoid doing it.

when i reverse off my drive, i always check my mirros, then i evan lean round and physycally look out the back window. i live at the top of a culdisac too, so only way cars are going to be coming is from my right side or behind my off another drive. its common sence to look in the direction your driving isnt it?

if it comes up in court, they will more than likely lose. their argument that you were speeeding wont hold up, as they have no proof. the fact the old boy didnt look, and just reversed straight out, onto a main road, isnt illegal, but id of thought the driving without due care and attention comes into play

well police said, the only way they can tell if i was speeding or not is if htye had a speed gun, or i was obviously going over the limit, and by the damage they siad from what they can see, i wasnt tanking it along. but i have hit them at almost full force becuase i didnt have much time to reacte

sorry to hear that mate.
Similar thing happened to my sister. She was reversing out of our drive and was about 3/4 the way out, and a car that was parked at the side of the road pulled out from behind another parked car and proceeded to slam into the back of my sisters car as they didnt look.
They lied and said they were on the main road just driving down, and my sister ended up being made the one at fault, while the two people in that car claimed for everything.
So I expect if you just keep onto of it the people reversing out will be found at fault.

Sorry to hear that mate, some people shouldnt be allowed to drive,
some people should shot for being so inhumanely selfish.
I hope it goes your way and the coffin dodgers pop their clogs due to the stress
I have 0 respect for people who clearly made a mistake and are not big enough poeple to stand up and accept their responsabilities and right their wrongs.
Good luck to you!
