there are refered to as a 2.6 when trying comparing to a normal piston engine, yes its 654cc per rotor and two rotors
but its the number of revolutions it makes that means its displacing 2.6cc

As Cyber said they are twin 654cc rotors!!!
And there are less things in the engine to go wrong.
Scoobs / Supras / Evos all need rebuilds and when they do , they cost double of what the RX will. Ask AK he knows about these things
so how do u go about insuring them ?
i put the guys reg on the insurance and it doesnt come up as a 1.3 ! ?
then which ever stooooopid fool imported the car put the wrong engine size down, the thing is even though they are 1300cc (aggreed by the DVLA) when you go to insure it 99% of insurance companies will say 2600cc
you can argue it out with them till your heart is content but they will say 2600cc like it or lump it.
So they are insured as 2.6 and taxed as 1.3 its a strange world and it will never change every rotary owner has learnt this.

Some of the older RX7's are 1.2's.
But anyway, i'd get an insurance quote first. Bearing in mind that 9/10 RX7's will be an import, the insurance isn't cheap on them.
Nismole is right about the engine size - It is indeed a 1.3, but the government and insurance companies being the fleecing bastards that they are, they insist on them being 2.6s.

years and years have passed with this argument , some insurance companies will accept that they are 1300cc but they know the power output of them and then they are uped to group 18/19/20 so you cant win either way.

I think we killed it...
And they ARE 1.3s, however some people refer to them as a 2.6 as there are always two rotor faces involved in producing power at any one time in each chamber.
So therefore, two 654cc rotor faces in operation in two chambers gives you the 2.6l you have been hearing about.

You WILL NOT insure it as a 1.3. Just tell them its the 2.6 Twin Turbo and be done with it.

and before people start sayin"u r 18 u cant get one of them etc" u r wrong
RX7's are 1.3
Thats not strictly true, they have 1.3 per rotor and have twin rotors
wrong, its 2x654cc rotors
My bad, i got told wrong......
alltho it wouldnt matter if the insurance would insure it as a 1.3 or a 2.6 it will still be the same insurance group if it was insured as a 1.3 or 2.6 because the perfomance doesnt change just because someone thinks its a 2.6
