yeh paul i have driven my m8's 106 gti and i still dont think it feels as quick as my xe in fact i know because we go out alot together, down a small 3-4 mile bypass on a45 we go at all time and upto 60 is when he's there then he starts falling behind.

saxo/106 etc have no torque or bollocks in the engine at all, its not all power is it they way 100+kg's lighter than cosa in stock trim, and not to mention xe is heavier block, so corsa xe is probs getting near 150+kg's heavier, if u strip corsa down to 106 gti weight or lighter xe will kill it even with the few mods done to 106

all this is light cornering and staright line not just cornering as 106 wins everytime, but u mentioned no matter what suspension u fit there is more u can do like camber/arb/bushes which i believe with all this and stripped rear ud out handle 106

Nova is way lighter than a corsa- and a different story on a straight

so,

106 gti are quick through the corners and light

2.0 corsas are fast in a straight line but are heavy and not so good at the corners.

why not get a corsa 1.6 16v put it on throttle bodies and fit tarmac rally spec suspension and good tyres.thats what i did quicker that both of the above and will match a 106 for the handling.

Since when has a 306 gti 6 been 180 bhp standard? Thought they were around 150 bhp and weigh quite a lot...

had a 2.0lt cammed corsa, then went on to a ph1 vts standard now a ph2 vts. both felt faster inthe twisty stuff compared to the corsa which was on coilovers. the modded vts felt as quick as the corsa with both having issues with getting power down and spinning at high revs. as for when you have a passnger it feels slow comment, all u have to do is look at the 0-60 times diff between a saxo and a 106 gti. there is a second diff, this was because when pug did the time they had two people in the car to make it slower thus lower grp insurance. so does make a huge difference. prob cause a corsa 2.0 has 150 ish torque when a 106 has 107

Paul J - The 306 gti6 does have 180bhp as standard, your thinkin of the 306 S16.

Corsa808 - Thats hardly a fair comment, so your saying that a 1.6 corsa on throttle bodies and ralley suspension is a fair comparison to a standard 106 gti??? You do the same to a 106 and its a totally different outcome

i dont believe a 1.6 on tb's would beat an xe corsa

1.6 with lots of money spent this meaning headwork/cams/ecu/tb's/zorst parts etc etc thats what is needed to win not just tb's

set of tb's thrown onto standard 1.6 would only see 135bhp odd with no other mods,

really me an broster should go out and have play as he has 180bhp 1.6 and i have 165bhp 2.0 16v so be good to compare
