Another thing with the MK4

put the front windows all the way down, if part of the glass is still visable towards the b piller it means thats it has the modded window reg clips on it, This is good

if there is no glass visable, this means your window is likly to fall into the door at any time, this is not to scare you, just somethign to be warey off with the mk4

New window regs fitted are £220, or reapir kist are avlible for much cheaper

also watch the sump on them, we have had so so many MK4S in with the sump smashed off them

also it has a strange undertrya arragment, which fixes to the sounddeadners for the engine, which fixes to the inner arches,

it is very very easy to catch this, and breake most of it all in one go, which is expensive

Yes the cast sumps are a nightmare.

That's what's stopping me fitting coil overs at the minute.

Although I am trying to get a sump guard made up

whats make it worse, espically with some of the 1.8t,v5 and v6, is that the oil level sensor software changes, which means if you do the sump, you need to buy the oil level sensor and dash cluster, otherwise its very possible your get false warnings etc

Stop that! - Repair kit is evil and only fitted by fool.

Nice shiny new reg is best.

Firmer suspension would be better.

The problem is, the cars are so softly damped and sprung, and have so much suspension travel that when you hit a hard or violent bump, the very low mounted engine is immediately placed in danger.

If the suspension travel could be reduced, the risk of damage to the engine would be lessened.

His has a bit more low end grunt than mine when we raced from 30mph
Mines seems to do better higher in the rev range as mine has VVT
