I'm a geek and I bought one from PC World.
My advice would be get in the Geek Shops thread, first stop Aria to see what bones systems they have, usually plenty of Optiplex/Dimension. Then Dell and custom build a system and turn off all the support crap and bundled stuff, see how price compares.
