170bhp and those performance figures?

My 147bhp Astra 2.2 16v is faster than that, and compared with Rachels GSi mine is piss piss poor

170bhp 'DuraTec' which is just a rebadged Zetec lump which can take 500+bhp if you got the money for Turbo,Rods,Pistons and a slight port n polish.

Paul J has a 2.0 in his fiesta and his is 600+bhp and Sunny Khalsa is coming back from a 550bhp fiesta even faster later this year.

They are an excellent chassis and with an engine like the 2.0 Zetec Lump with so many tuning parts available for it I think its a great buy.

I was going to buy one last year

Good car nice engines but slow really and insurance is 15A not 15E so quotes are like group 16 as the car doesn't exceed in its insurance group its only approved

You can get 800bhp out of a 2.0 Ecotec as well

Is it still a 2.0 though?

Even 200 Block Cossie YB Lumps are struggling to get 800+bhp from 2.0 bored to 2.1 or stroked to 2.2

Love to see the lag on 800bhp Ecotec and what the engine spec on it is.

when i was astra hunting i had a choice between
mk4 golf gti turbo
mk4 astra coupe turbo
renault clio 172
focus st170

the astra and golf were out my price range for a clean one and running costs were too high

so betwen the focus and clio, i test drove 2 cars with 40k on the clock, focus was lovely interior, went pretty well, excelled at nothing really but didnt lack anything

the clio was faster, more fun to drive, and was same kind of driving exp as the corsa was. but lacked rear head room,

I chose the clio as i found it so much more fun to drive and its about a second a bit faster to 60, and handles much better id say

totally depends what you want though

correct plus ST prices have crashed and will even more with the new St being more powerful than the old RS

Don't spend alot on one if you are going to get one

Horsepower : 170 hp @ 7000 rpm
Torque : 145 lb-ft @ 5500 rpm
Redline : 7200 rpm
Top speed : 135 mph
0-60 mph : 7.5 sec.
0-¼ mile : 15.9 sec @ 90.2 mph
60-0 braking distance : 118 ft

This is my mums ST170:

I wasnt too keen when my mum told me she had bought one but now personally I think its a great car...I have been driving it around daily since my Corsa was off the road since before xmas.

It doesnt feel quick initaially as it makes most of its power above 4K revs once it hits that power band its fairly quick and goes very well. Infact Its not far off my XE'd Corsa from the stats above.

The car is very good as an overall package, looks good handles really really well...best handling car i've driven IMO People go on and on about how a 106 GTi handles...drive one of these and then you'll realise this is spot on it is.

Who ever said the gearbox is notchy? Well its not at all its precise and slots in niceley. Love the leather recaros as well and the spec is pretty decent.

People are quick to dismiss them but I can assure you most of the pople who slate them either havent driven one and own nothing more than a Corsa

Also Evo magazine rated this a four Stars car which by anyones standard means its pretty damn good...i'd take their word on cars over most of the missguided opinions in this thread.

my opinion is based on me driving a 2 week old one for a weekend in wales. it felt very tight so maybe they need a few thousand miles to loosen up. Agree the handling is good, fantastic even when you consider how heavy they are.
