Any mechanical faults with them?

My mate just bought the Paum Racing, paid £11.5k for it which is VERY pricey for what it is, was gutted that the girls 106 was neck and neck with him on a private stretch of road all the way up to the top speed

Had one couple years back, sold it to my sister.
was the standard 1.7
really nice drive, handled well and was quite nippy.
wouldn't object to owning one again

I'm a fan of them and with a few bits and bobs can be de-hairdressered!
Ask Jaffa for opinions, he owned one for a while IIRC.

I think yay! Look fairly smart IMO - get a thunder of you can afford it! Lots of toys etc etc, and now fairly rare as they were the last special edition to be made before Ford ceased building the Puma Look at it this way - far nicer than that wanky Cougar they made!

When you say its quite nippy what sort of comparative cars could you beat/keep up with?
Not buying it for a street racing car! But might take it on a track day or two in the summer

and the people who know cars, will be like yes, smart. Sweet gearbox, good handling and decent engine. Good car.

For the people who know about cars get a grip. Please give me a review from a respectable car expert who said the racing Puma is a great handling car and has a great gear box
You know f all IMO I have driven some great cars and can honestly say the Puma has never been a good one

I've driven the 1.4 and the 1.7 and thought the 1.4 was nippy and nice enough and the 1.7 was spot on. Handled supurb very direct and sure.
Very nice cars shame the interiors are a bit drab and the rear view vision is none existant!
I was considering one for a run around recently that how impressed I was by them

From the dunlop cars that deserve more recognition section
Ford Racing Puma 2000
The bare statistics don't do justice to this car. 153BHP and a 0-60 of 7.8 seconds are easily beaten in a game of Top Trumps.
The Racing Puma came when Ford were on a roll in building deft-handling cars. The Ka, Focus and Mondeo had brought superb handling to the family car. The standard Puma was hailed as being far more exciting than the boutique coupe styling suggested. The Racing Puma added a little more of everything, it was lower, meaner and wider, but still had wonderfully fluent handling. It is a totally involving car to drive on road or track.
Just 500 were built, and Ford wisely capped production at this level. Even though it set new standards in front drive, hot hatch handling, at some £20,000 I doubt Ford would have sold many more. At Impreza WRX money, you would have to really, really want one when cars like the Renaultsport Clio were just two thirds the price.

Only real shame is it has a Fiesta Dash
