1. how easy will it be to fit a 1.6 16 valve into my 1.4 8 valve<-- Simple
2. are the 1.6 16 valves easy to work on<-- yes
3. are they cheap on parts<--- yes
4. what bhp are they standard<-- 106/109
5. are they easy to tune and cheap to do so<--- yes and er kinda
6. insurance group<-- dont know
7. what will i have to do with regards to MOT DVLA engineers report ?<--- re MOT it and fill out the nessary dvla forms to change it to a 1.6...
Only some insurance companys look for an engineers report...
i would only consider the 1.6 if you can forsee yourself putting trottle boddies on it(£1500-£2000)
[Edited on 28-03-2006 by Siberia]
nah like i say im not going to spend loads on it just something a bit nippier so 1.6 16 valve maybe mantzel on and few other lil bits not throttle boddies

when you on the motorway at 70MPH do you like the engine to sound like
NERRRRRRRRRRR... NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! or just a nice quitish drive?
just something a bit nippy really i love how the 1.6s sound as well with a filter sound so loud and deep
ive been thinking i dont want stupidly quick just something with a bit of kick at the min my 1.4 8 valve gets boucned of limiter wen i want to and its got 140k on the clocks
if you like the 1.6 noise you'll love the 20xe burbles, pops, whizzes and bangs mate... i have a fooked icv but the noise it makes because of it means its staying (and i can't be bothered)
also after having both engines i can say that the 20xe is cheaper to maintain, easier to work on and you'd be suprised how good it is on fuel too

2. extremely easy espicially with an aftermarket inlet manifold
3. Very cheap on parts
4. 106BHP standard
5. yes an inlet manifold, de-cat, exhaust system will see you at 120 bhp +
6. x16xe group 10 c16xe group 11
7. Engineers report is not essential that depends on your insurance company you need to fill out a part on your V5 document and post it off.
thank you very much mate spot on !
do u think it is worth doing then ? 80 quid for the engine change some bits whilst its out of the car then add mantzel on to it ?
like i say im not after quick just a bit nippy for cheap and to me 80 quid for 106 bhp is good, cheap and nippy

Mantzel still sell the Powerbox. I got mine brand new just after crimbo.
The cost is £520, and that comes with everything you need for the change. As previously stated, the power delivery changes. It comes in at 5K and sounds awesome. By for the best £500 i've spent on my car yet.

well, do you go to the petrol station and say "ill put a tenner in"
or
"ill put 11.5 litres in"

mine was never bouncing off the limiter in 5th at 70mph, 135 maybe, 70 no
even with no interior, and a straight through decatted exhaust it wasnt that loud

just put a valver in! means you can keep it standard and not be fixing it all the time.
