I had everything declared on the Corsa. Alloys, suspension, exhaust, grill, stereo.... etc.
I had to give details of all the mods (alloys size, depth of suspension drop, values for each mod) and someone came out to view the car as well. That was with CIS.
I haven't modified the Astra yet, and I'm only planning a few Vauxhall/Irmscher extras, but these will still all be declared with Direct Line.

I never even had to say what brand the mods were, all they wanted to know was the value of each mod

that was in November 2004. Couldnt believe it. I really thought they were just gonna say, no way, but instead got a cheque through. Was even more surprised when it was £300 over what i apid for it,

Nova all mods declared, infact I can do anything to it and it still be declared, so I could put 22 inch rims on it and would'nt need to ring up.
Brentacre are ace.
I'm planning on putting some Irmscher bits on the Astra, now I bought the car from Vauxhall second hand, these Irmscher parts "might" have been on there when I bought it, as far as I'm aware they are standard fit part.

Id say it matters because a stripped car will be lighter and therefore a little faster. Also I would guess that insurence people would say that a stripped car is more likely to be driven fast on the road
