Yeah, she was listed as buy it now....the guy had 11 watchers so I asked a few questions (smoking etc). He said it splutters when it's wet sometimes but everything else checked out. I'll be checking the logbook thoroughly and the test certificate when I grab her on Sunday.

Oh he got good feedback too.....will be looking at the B pillars but from what I can make out on the forums here if you got a welder and some time should be straightforward enough to repair.

I want to slam her on the arse but if it's gonna stress her I might just restore it

Proposed tart-up:

GSi spoiler with LED brakelight - £54
PI shocks and springs (40mm drop, my driveway is a 'mare) - £150
Angel Eye headlights - £129
Titanium Lexus rear lights (maybe the 3Ds, not sure yet) - £30
Wide arch bodykit - £250
Boot smooth panel - £37
Clear Chrome 3D side repeaters - £10
Micro Chrome beesting - £10
DTM mirrors - £30
Alloys (undecided but deffo 15" 5 spoke, maybe in white)
Respray in black - £200 (provided I prime/sand it beforehand)

Any other suggestions? As I said I might just colour code the arches and bumpers, maybe just stick the GSi bumpers on her if she's gonna get stressed

yes restoration and subtle irmscher or similar mods is the path to a decent tidy corsa b these days imo.

£500 doesnt sound like a bargain to me

and also, that list of things to do includes a wide kit for £250 and repray for £200, whos fitting the kit? expect to may a lot more than that if u want a decent job

personally, i agree with the others on a more subtle GSi/irmscher kitted corsa

Won't be getting the wide arches now Eccles. It'll prolly end up a monstrosity

Gonna take my time with her and get the scratches dealt with first, engine/bay degreased and some alloys first and foremost then try to get my hands on the GSi kit...maybe stick a Peco dual pipe backbox on her...just for now.

Once I sell my Fezzie, I'll grab the kit and go from there.

EDIT: And the spoiler of course

Non-genuine spoiler, Lexus lights, Peco exhaust, where are you getting all these silly ideas!

Don't buy anything until you've put it to the vote first. That'll either end up a nice old school clean SRi, or a black GSi replica, or a tatty, tastless mess, depending on where you go from here.

My plans would be a standard spoiler, back to black the arches, put the stripe back on, set of new reg plates in the new font, clear repeaters and paint the damaged bits.

Either that or find a GSi front bumper, arches and skirts and paint all that at the same time, although you'll need some new wheels at that point, preferably something OE Vauxhall. Search on here for cesaro and you generally get threads talking about those and other Vauxhall standard rims.

Pi springs I also agree with, but thats about the only thing from your first list!

Lil_John - I'm 33 but only been driving for a year (long story short, when I was 17 I had a c**t of an instructor and it put me off 'til my mate became a DI and passed me last year).

Ian - When I have the money for the full GSi kit I'll prolly post up here looking for one. Maybe I don't appreciate the Corsa as much as you guys yet and it's showing. In all honesty I'll end up making do for now anyway 'cos I'm not made of money.

The reason I am posting is to basically ask advice and from what has already been said, I've interpreted "Grow up", "Don't desecrate your investment", "Don't be tacky", "Make her look as she should". It's sinking in trust me I'm learning loads just by talking to you more experienced drivers but the big kid in me takes over sometimes

EDIT: Like this pic but in black? (dunno what it is about 5 spokes, just prefer them over any other). Looks pucker.

But I like this too:

Im 18, im not an experienced driver, its down to personal taste but after being on here two weeks mate i guarentee that you will know good from bad and realise that on a corsa less is more.
You'll start to like how corsa's look when they're minimal.

Rob b's corsa for example, you look at it and think its not up to standards, we all look at it and appreciate it for what he's done, the time he's taken and most importantly the planning ahead that he's followed!

Like i said im only 18, but being on here you learn alot and i have but no matter what you do theres always going to be some arse on here that says your cars shit, it needs a bigger engine, your wheels look gay, ditch the car mats , but thats what you need to put up with, some people like some things, others like different things but at the end of the day its your car.

Good find aswell, it'll be a minter in no time.

an 18 year old giving a 33 year old advice, whats going on?

Keep us posted big man.

Experience isn't always about age mate, since experience comes in different forms I've not even picked her up yet but feel like a big kid at Xmas so promising at least hehe

I've learned a lot in 2 days on here, but before I got the car which is promising I would say. I thought I was lucky in all fairness too, Corsa SRi's are going for over a grand on average. Let's hope this one is a good find.

The point is, I have spoken to Corsa owners now and will act upon the advice. Also, I'll be sure to post back regularly with updates. I love cars and I love driving.

That car looks smart mate.

yeah thats robs corsa, personally i think its the nicest one on here.

But iv had 6 months driving experience and i wouldnt say its worth boasting about , lol.
At the end of the day mate, if you like what you do to your car then fuck the rest of them , they dont drive it. You dont seem daft enough to do stupid stick on stuff to it anyway, lol.

Fingers crossed mate, hope you get a bargain, maybe fix it up, sell it on for double what you've paid , maybe buy a the higher spec sport?

It takes time, just use that time.

But deffo let us know how it goes, im off to bed anyway.

Good luck for sunday.

Take Care

I been spending a lot of time on Ebay looking at SRi's and GSi's (along with all the other crap, boredom essentially). And yes you're right. Could have spent £1500+ on a Corsa but it wouldn't have been 'personalised'. The scratches are a PITA but they're priority before I'll drive her and from the advice given I'll try find a genuine spoiler. I don't like the standard alloys that came on her so they'll be going cheap on Ebay before long.

Back to black, some filler and the spoiler...then I'll tax her and with the proceeds of my Fiesta sale will look for other bits.

Speak soon dude.

Yes except different wheels a bit lower. They look well fairly standard apart from a few small subtle mods.

The kitted stuff is OK, that black one with the kit looks well, but thats a lot of labour and messing to get it fitting that well, plus a lot of effort to get it all that shiny, plus its got big wheels which are expensive also. Probably quadruple the price of the project easily. The other stuff I suggested shouldn't be too expensive if you keep your eyes open for second hand stuff on here.

I don't even think it needs a kit. Those bumpers are perfectly good when they're all the same shade of grey Spend the cash on wheels and a drop, and tidying the paint. Exhaust/lights/blatently aftermarket stuff will spoil it.
