Surely you could just muscle him off the ball, he can't do that while holding someone off.

Luigi - If someone tried that on sunday league fact is they'd get kicked. No ifs or buts, they'd get kicked. You of all people must know that.

I dont know if its me, but i have got away with doing 7 or 8 kick ups in the corner late in a game when we're leading. to intentionally aim on hurting someone who has a bit of talent and using it to effect in a game isn't very sportsman like.
but dave you're right, i have seen the 'cheekier' players suffer a more brute tackle, but they always win out in the end.

No they don't!
my uni class consists of about 4 people with long term injuries just coming back after not kicking a ball for years.
They must be soft round your end, Sunday league football is brutal around these parts. It's not worth playing unless your semi-pro.

Luigi, if you balance the ball on your head and start running with it in a sunday league game you obviously lack a bit of respect or you have never played sunday league
maybe professional football is more panzified

i wouldnt think of trying to balance the ball on my head in sunday league, (possibly because i can't and it just rolls off)

or perhaps if you did you would get smashed.
If we even try a backheel or something that's a bit risky we get shouted at. We're all capable and quite skillfull but when it comes to playing a match on sunday it's a totally different kettle of fish

yes. It's considered to risky. We're encouraged to keep it simple with no fancy stuff.
That's not a bad thing mate

Difference is, if you give someone a thumping in the premiership, its all over the news, you get a ban and a huge fine, maybe sacked
Sunday league youl get a ticking off or a red card, big deal, can go and do it again the next week.
Sunday league is like a licensed boxing/kung fu/kickboxing match around here.

I came on for the last 10 minutes of a game for my local. I was absolutely buzzing at the prospect of making my long awaited debut and promptly got sent off after my second tackle (both bookings), needless to say I never played for them again and I still hold the league record for the quickest sending off

My mate played at a rough place in huddersfield the other week, there was no ref so next time, a geezer on the side line, Big mean looking skin head, decided to be ref! One of the players got absolutely butchered by a player and the refs actions were;
Get up you soft cunt!

Only ever got sent off once. Was being man marked by a guy who I had always had run ins with over the years (he is one of those players that manages to piss everyone off) and he had been kicking the back of my ankes all game, I got that fed up I turned round and twated him on the side of his knee and he fell onto the floor shouting his head off in pain. The ref never saw it but sent me off anyway, the guy had to be carried off and no idea what was up with him but he didnt play on.

To be fair we don't need to be signing ponces who play football like a seal, we need another Roy Keane. O'Shea and Smith in the middle would be good but not as good as if we had a player who could really boss stuff about.
