I was just stating my experiences that a lot of chavs drive Corsa's agressively and that every CTR I have seen being driven has been sensibly, I'm confused how that post "let me down" ?

Because everyone already knows, no point stating the obvious is there!

Sorry thats double standards, as there was a thread made calling you a twat.

erm, a 120bhp 106 is not going to stand a chance against a 200 bhp ctr.

The wifes 106 makes 135bhp and can pretty much stick with a CTR as i've done twice

so if you take 1 boggo standard gti and add a filter and exhaust it keeps up with 200 bhp cars?

cant see it somehow.

Doubt the guy driving the ctr up the strip though he'd humour the guy in the 106gti by letting him win.
also wouldn't it be better working out bhp/per tonne to match the cars up. I'm not arguing either way, couldn't give a flying f**k which is faster has i own neither!

ok then.

ctr = 197 bhp and 1204kg = 166 bhp per tonne

106 = 120 bhp and 900kg = 135 bhp per tonne

mine = 170 bhp and 900kg = 192 bhp per tonne

or if you use the imaginary figure of +20 bhp for an exhaust on the 106 then you get 158 bhp per tonne.

but then the 106 has no torque compared to the ctr anyway so its a pointless way of working it out

dave im telling you now from many encounters and experiences a lightly modified 106gti can keep up with a CTR below a ton

The ctr only has slightly more torque than the 106

as for your comment about completely wasting a 106 gti, this kind of comment makes me laugh, so you are telling me if you encounterd a 106 and you both floored it ou would suddenly fuck off like he was going backwards? no, you may beat one but it would still be quite close, to significantly pull away from somethng you need a massive BHP advantage, this 40 or so bhp advantage you have would simply mean youd probably pull away very very slowly

agree about a 106 GTi being able to keep up with and beat a CTR. mates old one was fairly tuned and CTRs only started to make any ground back after 100mph. Before that the GTi pulled a few car lengths ahead of the CTR

Dave Torque doesnt really come into it when your nailing it in a GTi because your constantly in the power band

800 quid of modifications and your good to stay with a CTR in a 106... prolly bout 2 grand on a corsa though PMSL

900kg? have you had it on a weigh bridge, IIRC a GSi is closer to 950kg?

Certainly not as light as a 106 GTi.
