VTR's are not shite, they are pokey little things, especially in the low range, and you cant really go wrong with the chassis, they handle superbly

yeah and a corsa 1.4 weighs a lot more makes me when people base their theorys on power alone

what bhp are the face lift ones now? my derv keeps up with my mates face lift one, pulls slightly away at first then dead on. Would that mean in theory mine is faster than a sport, (depending on who you ask :lol

yes mk1 vtr's are 90 bhp, similar to a 1.4 sport but theyre much heavier and of course, slower than the saxo.
mk2 vtr's are 100bhp and according to parkers/etc are .4sec iirc slower than a 1.6 sport. so with those 2 it really does depend on the driver and condition of the cars.
and before you class a saxo as 'shoot', i suggest you drive one first. they handle sooooo much better than a corsa imo

Saxo's and Pugs have the same chasis which is based on the rear torsion bar. I beleive this gives the french cars an upper hand on the corsa's. Also they are sightly smaller( well the pug is ) and also lighter.
The fact that they rev to a slightly higher range can also help with the 0-60 times ( as long as you shift at the right times )

theres more to it then just the torsion bar, its lighter, has a lower centre of gravity, doesnt have a mcpherson strut setup
the torsion bar will hinder the pug/saxo in the wet
