true, too common, mass produced, cheap, owned by anyone and everyone

most special editions these days consist of paint, rims and extra bits of plastic

I wouldn't say it will ever be remembered as classic for being a great car, just be a classic cos its rare
Thats a good point, a car being rare doesn't make it a good car...

its too money and market based these days, just build what they think the common man will think is a great car, but really its a cheap car in disguise with some gimmicks, not the kinda cars you get because you want it for years to come

I'm not really old enough to know, but I'm sure that if you went and bought an Escort Cosworth brand new all those years ago it would have been quite a big thing. But now I could walk into Vauxhall and between that day and 4 weeks later I would be driving out in a VXR. A lot of people have done that too

These are more or less classics but i reckon

Golf mk1 GTi
mk2 G60
Carrado G60
Escort RS turbo S1/S2
RS1600i
Escort Cosworth
RS500
Focus RS
Integra Typre R DC2
VX220
Lancia Delta Intergralle
m3 e30 EVO

far far too many to list and most of them are just hot htaches rather than the wider span of other cars
