His free kicks are old hat, keepers have studied these too long now, like Ronaldinho, everyone's catching onto his little tricks and they're not working anymore.

Beckham would be a quality sub to bring on in games...
Super sub
He doesn't offer pace, flair, attacking options, just long ball all the time.
agreed

I'm pretty sure it's because of where he comes from with you though.....

i'd rather bring on Beckham than Lennon, SWP, Downing or any other young pretender, to compare a european cup winning multiple capped player with the ability to pick a pass like he has with guys that have had 1 good season in the Premiership doesn't wash with me.
I think the media down south have poisoned you against Beckham tbh.

We don't need Beckham. If we were struggling and he wasn't playing maybe bring him back for some stability, but as it stands we're doing perfectly well without.

if i was him id be gutted at the attitude towards him tbh, everything he's done for the national team is all forgotten now?
he was there everytime England needed him, i've said it before but that game against Greece not only his free kick but his performance was as close to perfect as i've seen 1 player play, now you don't need him so toss him on the scrap heap

When was that Greece game? About 4 years ago. Players get old, and get replaced. It happens all the time. Becks isn't an exception to that rule. He hasn't played 90minutes for his club team in a few weeks so why he is deemed good enough to play for his country? Players need to be playing week in week out to deserve a place and the players ahead of Becks are doing just that at the moment.

I have my own mind and I'm not even British.
I like players who aren't shit scared to take a few players on, if they lose the ball whilst doing it, fight for it back, Joe Cole is a perfect example of the player needed, Aaron Lennon another. Beckham cannot offer you this, all he offers is a diagonal pass from right to left, centrally he's crap because he can't shift the ball from his left foot to his right quick enough against decent centre midfielders, so he only offers you 50 yardsworth of 180 degrees in this case.
As for doing all he has for England and then letting him go, that's football!! Everyone retires or get's shoved out in the end, the truly great players bow out of the game on their own free will.

Was just like the world cup, everyone under-achieving.
Cue everyone in the country and media shouting for Beckham back (even more so than this thread...)
Just a poor performance all round today tbh.
Also, i don't know why everyone always expects to walk over Macedonia, they generally do very well against us, and they proved it again today. 1 point dropped... so what. It's a 12 game qualifying round and results went well for us today so far as well.
We'll see whether England (and Maclaren) are any good against Croatia on Wednesday.
