The dials were really easy to fit, it probably only took about 20 minutes to do in total. I think they're absolutely spot on accuracy wise.

I started stripping the new engine last night. I've been persuaded to paint it up now too, so just need to decide what colour to go for. I was thinking either silver or satin black...

The engine is now stripped! Just need to clean it up and paint it all up, then I can begin putting it back together. The car is coming off the road as of next Tuesday, so I can remove the old engine and paint up the engine bay.

The bottom end:

All ready to be cleaned and painted:

I was originally thinking of painting them up in satin black, but I quite like the high gloss silver that they are. So I might just re-do them the same colour.

Engine first though, then wheels!

Got my private plate on the car now!

Also all my gaskets have arrived for the engine, just waiting for the waterpump (and some chrome bolts...).

Rang my insurers regarding the conversion. I said it was roughly a 50% increase in power, they said £75 and the jobs done! However, I mentioned uprating the brakes accordingly and they said they'd have to speak to the underwriters but they might not insure this modification, lmao!

They might not insure you uprating your brakes to increase your safety etc.........

Sounds kosher to me

Got to love my supermarket insurers.

Don't think the 15s are going on the car now either, really want some 14" steelies (you don't hear that everyday!). Might settle for the Astra GTE rims for now, we'll see.

Painting the engine starts tonight, pics to follow

Engine painting now begun. Nearly ready to put it back together, should be done for New Years Eve.

Cheers Nick. There is a session on Friday if you want to call through. The old block is coming out of the Corsa ready to be cleaned up for the new one to go in. Still got a bit of painting to do before then though

Which wheels do you recon though Marc, the Astra GTE ones or the Azev's?

Just me and Rich with the Nova turbo, lol.

Might even be able to take one engine out and fit the new one if I get my finger out and get painting!
