ok then, let's summarise quickly:

a - you sit there (or try to sit) with a stinging ring, in pain for god knows how long.
b - you get to your local pharmacy and get something to treat it.

More than likely your ring will be inflamed. You need soothing cream or something along those lines to treat it.
