every vauxhall as we know it ive seen done in south america has always been 100x better than europe can do it. the mk2 astra they have over there that runs 10's on 1/4 mile, the mk4 astra turbo with 1500bhp or whatever.

Well, none have never run in the 1/4 mile track. The track is not an excuse, I know. But the track here is actually a anoying "carnival track" (yeah, where people samba once a year). So the ground is painted and the grip is terrible. Don't have 60ft or speed measures, only 201m..next season will be avaliable all other measures says the organization.
The 1/4 mile tracks on Brasil are circuit straights, and in the circuits on our state is impossible to do an 1/4 mile event. The nearest 1/4 mile track is 900km away.
In time...is under construction here in our town the first authorized NHRA 1/4 mile track outside USA, end 2007 will be ready! The link below:
Velopark 402m under constrution
But, the GSi is timing on our 1/8 mile track times around the 9,0s.
Most of the time it runs on 9.3s, but sometimes lower times like 9,1s.
Next year is promising!

The engine in the silver Corsa never get out of the car! But I have pics from another 1.0 8valve turbo engine.
This one have a bit larger T2 turbine and A3/Golf GTi interooler, GSi aluminum carter and some other mods.
The silver runs on gasoline and have a smaller turbo from the VW Gol 1.0 turbo and the same car intercooler.
Here the pics:

People here says the opositte!
The power record for four cilinder engines here is low compared with other places, something like 800hp in a AstraG turbo. This car does the 1/4 mile in 11.1 on street tires and 1000kg+
Also have the Kadett (AstraD) all motor with slicks and something like 700kg by regulamentations who runs on 10.8s.
As you can see, nothing special. The fastest fwd 1/4 mile car is a turbo VW Gol in 9.6s.
But things are only starting to get good and records are falling every event.
