Samsung make good monitors afaik yes.
There have been a couple of people looking for monitors recently and might be some good info if you search.
I've not thought about it because i've not been looking for a monitor recently but everything is in a widescreen format now so I suppose it would be.

Link, its probably that cheap because it doesn't have dvi.
It could still be a good monitor, don't listen to me, i'm anal about stuff like that as i've said before.
Post it up though and you'll get a few people who know what they're talking about advising you.

Not sure what the standard 19" wide res is.
Contrast is ok although manufacturers quote whatever figures they can to make it sounds good.
No DVI
Brightness isn't the best
Response time same problem as contrast.

DVI is a digital input alongside a vga input.
Make sure your graphics card has DVI though.
Couldn't tell you what brightness is standard these days but quoted figures don't always mean what you think they mean.
1000:1 is good although again, it depends what the manufacturer is actually quoting.
Best thing to do is get a model number the look for reviews on google.

I've got the Samsung 940MW, and i think it's pretty damn good, widescreen 19" think it's down to £220ish now (although i've not checked) bought it for £300 last new year and i've not had a single problem with it, it's brilliant for watching films etc..etc.. on
