The halfords i shopped at was the brislington(Bristol) branch, which isnt a bad store.
The two guys i have complained to are sound and trying to sort the problem, but its rimstock that are causing the delays.
Got to wait for a phone call today.

Been told that I am to fit the alloys and if they rub contact Rimstock myself!
So I am going to write to the customer services department.
As it stated in the invoice 'supply in et45 as stated by your sales team' should I mention that this is a offence of the trade discription act?

DONT FIT THEM
I sell parts and wheels and 99% of suppliers wouldnt accept the wheel back if they had been fitted. (unless there was a fault discovered after fitting)
take the wheels back to halfords and demand a refund. they have broken their part of the sale agreement by not supplying you the parts you requested at the point of sale. You have no contract with rimstock, thats why you bought them from halfords, Rimstock only supply to retailers, not the public.

Dave A, you have stated what im thinking.
i.e. Its not Halfords fault that the wrong wheels were delivered, however they are responsible for correcting the problem.

No, it WILL be halfords fault. Rimstock send what they are told to.
You asked for ET45, you payed for ET45, they ordered them wrong, you NEED a refund.

presactly
take the wheels back with your reciept asap.Ask to speak to a manager. these are the words I would use:
under the sale of goods act I am entitled to a full refund or a replacement as you have sold me goods which are not suitable for the use they were sold to me for. I have proof that I was also sold these goods under false information that the offset was correct for the vehicle they are intended for. I have a bill of sale here which constitutes a legally binding contract for these alloy wheels in an offset of ET45. the wheels supplied to me are an offset of ET38. please either refund me the total amount of £xx.xx or a suitable replacement within 7 working days. (its their choice which one they do)
If I do not get a resolution to this problem today I will be forced to take legal action and go to the local press regarding your store selling wheels which may be dangerous to fit to my vehicle.
if they mention rimstock just say:
my contract is with your store, not your supplier. I have no contract or bill of sale with Rimstock.

i'm a specialist at halfords and stuff like this is very frustrating, i've had a lot of problems with rimstock in the the past and the sheet the customer signs is the sheet rimstock get faxed thro as that is the only way we can order wheels, so they will have seen et45 written on it! sounds to me like the guys at the branch you've gone to are sorting you out so good luck with that!

I agree though Adam, 90% of Ripspeed workers, who are classed as 'specialist', know FA about what they're selling.
If you ask about offsets, they assume that ET38 will be fine for EVERYTHING, because they fit fiestas.
Not saying they're all like that, but IME, most are, and my mate is one of them.

i am one of those specialists.
i do try my hardest to get it right.
and if i dont know about somthing i will try my hardest to find out what needs to be done,
example, guy came in with a jag and wanted a set of wheels, it was a sunday he picked the ones he wanted and paid.
order went throu the monday after, the company phoned back to say they dont do wheels for that car, as it has metric/imperial "not sure" but old school hubs i told the guy and he said which ones do fit
i then went and phoned every single wheel supplier to get the correct wheel for his car, as the rears needed to be a wider wheel at the back.
and if i cant do somthing im sorry but at least i try my best, just standing up for myself. as i work bloody hard and to read all this doesnt help. i know some stores arent great, but some stores do try thier very best
my advice on this is to go to the store you got the wheels preferably in office hours so they can phone rimstock, explain the situation, to the manager if need be, dont go in shouting and arguing jusdt explain the full situation and im sure somthing can be done, if they haven't been used they have been sent in error as the offset was stated on the form so its upto rimstock to send a replacement set of wheels and collect the other ones.
Yes but when i brought my sat nav that was faulty in to the store you were to lazy to even phone road angel and asked me to come back and speak with a manager later on in the day who then proceeded to chew you out in front of customers!
It then took 8 weeks to get a replacement which halfords lost in the post to road angel.
Incompetence at its best!

when i worked there only managers were supposed to deal with sat nav returns, due to the laws on software licencing
unless halfords owns the postage company, i dont see how THEY could loose it in the post?
not to mention, if my manager had given me a bollocking infront of anyone (or probably at all) i would have told him to shove his £5 and hour job, with fuck all training and certainly no thanks when you do things right, and did the same job, doing all the same things, with a smaller company and i can gaurantee you people wouldnt mouth off about you half as much because theres no stereotype involved like there is with working for halfords
