Just a quick update, managed to find a few hours last night so we we set about removing the Corsa's bumpers, engine bay wiring and all the small brackets and things that are no longer required
(sorry for the poor pic quality)
before
after
Ben removing the sound deadening from the bulkhead.... as you can see theres a little bit of surface rust to sort on the van.
Also last night I removed my standard steering rack.... Why? Because I have a hybrid power steering rack which I brought for my nova a while back off a rally car.
It consists of:
A Saxo Electric power steering pump
A Power steering Corsa Rack
And Nova Arms and ball joints
Obviously im going to have to swop the Arms over for it to be the right width for the Corsa
The idea is to relocate the battery in the boot and mount the pump onto the battery tray.

Didn't know they had EPS to be honest, and I already had the gear lieing around from my Nova days.

7th December
Had a good night tonight, got most of the engine bay's degreased and started grinding in preparation for the Chassis strengthening mounts.
Speaking of which, these came through the post today (Thanks to Chris Astley, Excellant service)
2 sets of Chassis kits, An F28 Mount and some Tiebar spacer plates
As you can see the Van needs a bit of TLC as there's a fair bit of service rust and dirt
This mount has to be chopped off as its in the wrong posistion (because the car was originally diesel)
Ben set about the engine bay with some de-greaser and a bucket and sponge
Next it was time to use my new toy to clean up some of the rust
Well chuffed with it.... Especially as i exchanged it for some car parts
The dog then decided he wanted a piece of the action... I don't think he's got a licence though...
Next, time for some angle grinding....
Lookin Smooooth
Its getting there...
Whilst Ben set about working on his Van, I started work on mine.
Luckily mine isn't quite as bad as Ben's but it still needed a good de-grease
Then time for some angle grinding on mine
And thats where we got to by the end of the night.
Although something else turned up a few days ago which I couldn't resist offering into the rough position where its going to sit, just to see what it was going to look like
Obviously its going to require a frame to mount it but thats right at the bottom on the "to do list" at the moment.

Neil, Ade is on a major diet at the mo, all he eats for his lunch is raw pepper and other healthy shit, not like him at all!
If he is in on Monday night when I'm in, I will let you know how his progress is going for the Nova, haven't asked him about that car for ages!

Cheers for the comments guys
I'll keep the updates coming...... Just a very small one for you today.
Whilst I was getting my Calibra ready for its MOT next week, Dan decided to have a go at fitting his Direct Port Nitrous kit onto his Civic
Mmmm Direct Port and Throttle Bodies
Dad finally finished filling the back of the Workshop/Barn/Tractor shed in so we don't freeze to death this winter. lol
And finally a couple of pics of Ben's new "Run Around" lol, an Awesome WRX with a PPP for those of you who know your Scooby's. Jammy Sod! But he deserves it with the amount of Overtime he puts in. Nice one mate

As i've just shown some pics of Ben's new car i've just had a look on my PC for a few pics of his last project to show you.
This car took Ben over 2 years to get road worthy. It finally got its MOT 1 day before we went on our 2005 Nurburgring trip.... Hence why the car isn't finished as you'll see from the pics.
(And yes that is my Corsa above in an earlier modification state with just an XE conversion)
Incase you haven't guessed its a 205 GTI with an Mi16 Conversion running on some dirty Dellorto 45's which were very Thirsty.
And finally Ben's Celebrity passenger for the trip

Update
12th December
Started work this evening taking apart the front tiebars and wishbones ready to be powder coated next week.
Ben set about hacking away at his engine bay with a grinder.... again
Battery tray was chopped out being's as theres a new home for it in the boot
Next we offered up the chassis strengthening kit (can anyone tell us if this is how they should be fitted??? as the pictures we received with them arn't very clear)
Whilst Ben was messing about I took the opportunity to start sanding down my engine bay, and grinding off the last few lugs that were no longer needed
The engine bays are now both ready for the welding of the chassis kits to take place next week sometime
Its useful owning a Corsavan.... It means you can just chuck all the parts in the boot
And these are the final mounts we've been waiting for to mount Ben's engine into the van over Christmas.

Tonights progress mainly consisted of sanding and grinding again, so not much to take photo's of im afraid. Although we did start to hand paint the bare metal areas with anti rust primer.
Also this week the F28 which is going in the van was stripped down and the Quaife ATB diff fitted
And finally heres the 2 F28's together... Both with Quaife diffs and FWD conversion kits fitted ready to be cleaned up and painted next tuesday night
(There different colours because one was removed from a car 2 years ago, was cleaned and left to sit in a barn (the light silver coloured one) and the other is still grubby from being removed a few months back and never being cleaned)

17th December
Starting where we left off.... Had a few hours free today so decided to start on my gearbox.
We degreased and pressure washed it the best we could to get it to this state
Got hold of this and some brushes
And set to work
Here it is after its first coat
And the second
Have you ever seen a GM F28 floodlight before? lol
Finally got round to removing the bushes from the tiebars so they could be sent away for powdercoating
Need to clean these up before they can be refitted
Also put another layer of Anti Rust Primer over the areas I missed the other day
Right thats enough of the corsa, Dan was also around working on his civic.
These Titanium cans are heavy
Dan's dad has kindly welded an angled flange onto his exhaust so it clears his antiroll bar
The rollcage has made the chassis very stiff indeed as you can see
Here you can see the gap on the right where the exhaust has to pass through
This is the sort of angle we're hoping the exhaust will sit at once its complete

Thankyou, glad your enjoying the read as its taking me ages to change the pic sizes and uploading them on photobucket... lol
Well I couldn't decide to be honest so I thought i'd play it safe and just go for black. So it won't look that special, just be in Mint condition.
