I didn't think he was in with a shout tbh even though his performance in the FA cup was inspirational, they missed the boat last year when he should have won it. Sure he'll be in with a shout another year

That'll be Darren Clarke the golfer (i hope). His wife died and he went on to help Europe win the Ryder cup a week later.

omg. you wouldnt have that attitude if england won the world cup on pens. and since when is qualifying top scraping through? stop making pointless comments.

Cannavaro deserved it imo who honestly backed Italy to win the World Cup, and he was their best player and the best player in the tournament as well for that matter.

However, Buffon before Henry and Ronaldinho

U got beat by Czechs and drew with USA yes? Either way, u scraoed through even if u did finish top... and yes of course i would celebrate winning it on pens but u hardlyt were fully deserved winners by a huge margin when it took spot kicks...

Its fucking nonsense!

Zidane playing in the most watched football match of all time and he gets sent off for a HEADBUTT, yeah great example and good reason to reward that

Ronaldinho...... all he has to do is a back heel and he's nominated.

Cannavaro, easy choice for who ever votes for these things I suppose.

Also if Zidane wins it, why wasn't he even a contender for European?? Surely he'd have to be at least the best player in Europe to be considered the best payer in the World.

Have just seen this on SkySports.

Shocking that ZZ in nominated, thats even worse than Ronaldinho IMO and dont think he should be there. Its just players getting in there because of past performances and their name because of that.

Exactly! A few years back Ronaldo got it for no reaon at all and stood on stage saying, i feel embarrassed as ive been injured for the last 11 months!!!!!

Lik,e you say Nath, surely you should be in running for Ballon d'Or to be considered for World Player Of The Year and what a nonsense when he arguably cost his team the WC by headbutting somebody!!!!!!

I like Ronaldinho as a player but really, does he contribute as much as say the likes of Henry, Gerrard etc... he doesnt score that many and he doesnt set up that many when compared to others... like said, jus gets considered because of his flair etc
