A standard 2.0 Corsa is nothing to write home about. You hear all this hype about 2.0 corsa's, about them being stupidly fast, will beat alot of cars etc. There nothin special standard. Tune them then yes, there a different kettle of fish.
Plus, its always a bonus when people think you'vre got something big under the bonnet and you say ''1.6''. Fair more impressive IMO

I have to disagree mine only has cams and filter etc and quickshift and does beat a lot of cars. Surprises a lot of ppl and everybody who goes in it are like bloody hell

id say 1.6 TB but because of the cost involved id go for a xe because if you ever wanted to go faster it would be easier to make the xe faster than it would be to make the 1.6 TB

how many people giving opinions have lived with both options?
Have you been inside a TB'd car for any length of time...... trying to drive somewhere quietly.
Problems with cold start maps.
A std engine, with more CC/torque, is always going to be a winner for a ROAD car.
If you were weighing up the options for a wee fun track car, and didnt HAVE to suffer the ear bleeding caused by TB's for great lengths it would be ok. 1.6 with TB's

I can't comment on TB's all as i can say is i have my XE standard, its my everyday car and its fcuking fantastic. It starts - it goes - it parks up - its starts again.
Daz - An every so often a car will try and race ya and blow its gearbox in trying to catch you going up to the motorway

go for the 2.0, its simple power and won't cost you shed loads of money. I personally think that if your running a car with a high tuned engine on tb's then you need to know a fair bit about them and how to solve the problems that they come accross else you'll be spending hundreds everytime somthing needs doing.

pointless thread as about 99% of people that are giving their opinion have never owned let alone driven both cars.
cheap and reasonably quick in a straight line: c20xe conversion
fast reliable and huge amounts of fun: tb'd 1.6
if you spend the money right on a x16xe and treat it properly (not 10k rpm on standard rods) it will be reliable and more fun than a c20xe in a corsa. theres also the benefit of it being lighter, sounding better and 180 bhp is easily achievable.
I have owned both and even though the x16xe is a lot more expensive to build its worth it as its so much more fun, cheaper to run, more reliable and handles better. It all depends on the quality of the engine, who works on it and sets it up.

I haven't driven either.
But I'm going to say valver. You can always put TB's on the valver at a later date anyway...

you wont get the 1.6 as quick as the 20xe for the cost of a 20xe conversion.

Are throttle bodies that expensive??? How much would you pay for a full xe conversion???
I thought tb 1.6 would be cheaper!!!

throttle body set up and managment be looking about 1500 mapped max id say.
xe conversion, 400 for engine, 60 for mounts, cosr gsi shafts and cavv inner cv's maybe 80, powercap or ecotec pipe 80ish, then an afternoon on the driveway

Its 2K for Throttle bodies and management from SBD!!!
2.0 16v is by far the better option. Just think of the extra Torque! And it'll be cheaper to do than fitting a set of TB's.
