Gonna get the Speedlines done gloss black as well, decided. The silver looks out of place on the black and white colour scheme. That way the white inner arches will stand out more as well.

It may be obvious but use lots of coats of filler primer... Then flat this back as it does a great job of filling all the imperfections.

Ollie it will look naff. There is a white gsi in wooburn with black wheels and it looks awfull. Yours will look like that.
Dont do it. The silver wheels look classy.
And yes halfords sell filler primer, look for the yellow cap

dont filler primer on top of whats allready there,
remove it with a scothbrite wheels or similar and use normal primer

You can do that. If it's bare metal dust on some Etch Primer first. Then, use high build primer on top. Don't use the Halfords junk. Get the Upol stuff they also sell. You can get it at a better price from Brown Borthers though...

What are you trying to get smooth first off? Is it bare metal like on the inlet manifold? Could drop it round to Tom and he could do it all properly for you?

Inlet manifold? I'm talking about the bits inner wings, they have some seam sealer on them that needs smoothing/removing.

My mate is smoothing the engine bay in his Golf. Think he has gone a bit extreme with it though.
He's got the engine out, cut the bulkhead out. Had new metal panels welded in then think he fillered the welds and rubbed them down to make it all smooth. Not sure exactly how he is smoothing the welds. Something along those lines anyway  Dont know if thats any help

olly, use a drill attactment and remove everything you can, then use primer and do what ever you want, or get tom to do it as he is very good

ollie your never get a good finish IMO doing that, take it back to metal and then primer (etch or zinc for corrosion stopping properties on top, done it to my lower panel and came up
