I remember about 10 yrs ago I went to spurs and was told if i say Yido ill be in the crap.
How times change the spurs fans actually sing it now!!!

As far as I am aware:
Yiddish is a slang term for Jewish. Spurs have a large Jewish fan base. Away fans used the term yid to provoke Spurs fans. So to make it less of an insult, the Spurs fans adopted the term yid.

I also know:
Arsenal got promoted ahead of Spurs (this is year and years ago), even though Arsenal finished 5th in the league that year. Apparently this is one of the factors that triggered the rivalry.

Also, another intresting fact, Spurs have had 6 foriegn managers over the years, Wenger is Arsenals first

yes our past managers were a crock of shite. now we have decent manager who spots young talent. and also has a good eye for business (carrick - £12m profit)
