Established from who exactly?

Don't see why they'd make a specific engine for the Corsa VXR with 200PS, when they've already got a 200PS 2.0 16v. It'll use the 180PS 1.6 engine out of the Meriva, that's also replacing the 170PS 2.0 engine in the Astra as of January.

Book time on the meriva is around 8 seconds. The Astra and Zafira have the same 2.0 16v 240 PS engine, but the Astra is a second quicker. I'd expect the same gains between the Corsa and Meriva using the same engine, hence just under 7 seconds to 60... putting it into direct competition with the Clio 197, without stepping on the toes of the Astra or Vectra, or having to develop a new engine. Job Done.

ojc and rob are right, we've already been told at work that its got the 1.6 turbo, that info has been out for months! cant believe this thread has even been made again! as for that 2.2i 16v turbo engine with.... vtech? in a vauxhall?..ye ok! i know the new 1.8 in the astra has variable valve timing but doubt that any of the future turbo vauxhall engines will be!

a) vtech is a childs toy so unlikely unless they start making the engines out of plastic

b) vtec is a honda invention, there will never be vtec in any corsa thank god

c) vtech was mentioned as a joke

I should imagine they will do a inbetween model in the new Corsa 140bhp 1.8 16v Corsa D would be good.

PMSL at the people thinking Wikipedia is truth have a look now;
"Corsa VXR

* Final version will be shown at the Paris Motorshow in September 2006
* Due on sale January 2007
* Price of just under £16,000
* 4.0 V8 Twin turbocharged engine
* 497 bhp

It will be the Z16LET, with 200PS, 197bhp.

I suspect there will also be an SRi model using the new DCVCP Z18XE "Double Continuous Variable Cam Phasing" technology. 140bhp and 130lb/ft.

i was joking about vtec

its going to be 197bhp to try and have the edge over the other super minis, but vauxhall might use vtec to give it the 497bhp wikipedia claims
