Reading a lot of threads on VXRonline unless you run the VXR on Super Unleaded it can be very down on power.
Daimo has mentioned something simular as well I believe.

as ojc said they must be used on super unleaded, if not it will feel sluggish and has flat spots. i remember reading a top gear magazine and they road tested a remapped astra vxr that they were getting it to do 0-60 5.6 quite consistantly and said it pulled very strongly through the gears.
still your xe corsa sounds like it has a decent and healthy engine that goes at quite a pace

If the bloke only just had it, i'd say it was more down to the driver than the car. Don't think there'll be huge differences between the two when you take power to weight into the equation, but if you mash the pedal in a VXR, the Traction Control goes mental and cuts alot of power from the engine to stop the wheels spinning.

id say there would be a fair bit in it power to weight.
The astra has nearly 100bhp more, its not going to be 1tonne heavier is it?

Now my nova is turbo'd, or nearly as it aint finished yet

XE's knock about 160 brake out don't they in healthy form with the obligatory Air filter and Full exhaust? depending what standard car it's going in, it'll probebrly weigh about a tonne? = 160bhp/tonne
VXR is
240/1300 *1000 = 185bhp/tonne as standard, but if you take into accounts of using lower ron fuel, even if you only get say a 5% drop in performance (purely guessing) it drops to 175bhp/tonne.
You can get statistics to say what you want but at the end of the day, they're not too widely spaced to rule out driver skill being a big factor in getting it moving quickly! With the astra being a turbo, and the computer doing it's best to not shred the tyres, a half decent driver should be able to get the power down easier in a lighter N/A car.

VXR won''t be fully run in for around 15k, regardless of dealer running in period.

.
I seem to remember the times of VXR's not being anything amazing .
End of the day though, once it's moving your gonna get bummed, but then there isn't much point of having a car that's only got good traction above 30mph+ IMO . Still want one mind .

this is not a fair argument then is it? the corsa has been modified!! if both standard, i wud say VXR would be beat an xe corsa. I have driven an XE corsa and now own a GSI and i wud say the satra is feels alot quicker (turbo i know) but i wud say it would beat a standard xe corsa, never mind a VXR
