i don't mind paying upto 40 quid for a game that is good fun on single player and can be played for hours upon hours on live. eg rainbow 6/fifa/pes6/nfs/cod3/etc/etc well worth it

I don't know how much money a year is lost through piracy but imagine that money going back to developers. We'd have much better games and not sequel after sequel that seem to be released year upon year.
Tekken 10 anyone

think about how many games are sold at £40 a go. Do you really think they need to sell them at that price to cover costs of game development?

Gears of War cost $10,000,000 to develop. And that's fcuk all really when compared to some games.
So yes, yes I do.

and besides games can be had for a lot less than £40 (I know £40 is the rough price in most places)

tekken 5 is being released soon, however, tekken games are quote good.
Its the likes of EA who release countless rehashes of the same game with minor upgrades and endless drovel based on movie lisenses ect.
Whilst piracy does harm the industry, i really dont think it hurts it as much as they make out.

I thought Tekken 5 was out ages ago. I agree with your EA point. Silly really.
I don't think piracy harms the games industry to a major extent. I do however feel that we would have better titles if piracy didn't exist (in a perfect world of course).

of course they are going to say it hurts it, all it really hurts is there profit.
Think of world wide how many people buy one game at around £40 per go (new release) it more than covers there costs.

so really you think that games developers get more than enough profit from games and it's ok to buy knocked off games etc?
Fair point to have.

Profit is what keeps people in business though
You say £40 is expensive, but how much of that is the developers money.
They have to sell it to a distribution company after paying for cases, cds, printing etc, they sell to the distributor, they make some profit. The distributor sells to the shops, they make a little bit of profit. The shops sell obviously for a profit. So how much do the developers actually earn out of the games? A lot less than £40 I would imagine.

They way i see it is they exploit the market, look at all the shops this year most round here have removed all xbox products and its only 360 available. Your kind of forced into buying one due to a limited market.
imagine having a kid at christmas who wants a 360 and several games. What you going to do but 4 games at 40 each or flash it for 30 quid and spend £12 on those same games?
im not saying piracy is right i just think that they should have a more reasonable price and lower their profit margin. Maybe if games were more affordable to begin with then the world of piracy wouldnt be as big?!

of course it would be great if games were cheaper, I'd be up for that who wouldn't?
And nobody is 'forcing' you to buy an xbox?

I would NEVER give a flashed copy of a game/copied version to my kids for christmas. That is ridiculous.

No and i wouldnt either but there are people who have to.
I was in game on xmas eve and someone was buying a preused psp for there kid. It was scratched to feck too but if it what you have to do then so be it.
And im not saying anyone is forcing you into buying a xbox im saying they make it more easy for you to upgrade rather than keep the one you have.
Its not easy to see, stop making new games for the xbox only available for the 360 and only supply 360 stuff to the shops. Game, Woolworths, Asda, Tesco, HMV, WHS, toysrus & game station all have stopped doing xbox here.

Those shops i have mentioned there do not stock anything for the xbox here only 360.
The shops that do have xbox stuff only have a few new titles and mainly old games that is being sold off.
